When visiting West Mersea last Friday I was pleased to see that the new Trinity House approved buoys have now been laid.

They are a quite impressive sight, almost scale models of the Colne Bar, NW Knoll etc marking the straight channel between the Nass Beacon and the Mersea Quarters. However therein lies the problem as they are easily overlooked, mostly unlit so a potentially a menace at night and as the channel is straight so don't appear to be offering and real benefit.

Still they should be useful as marks for the Oppies to race around ;)

They are by and large pointless but don't say I said so! All it needs is the lit Nass, Spit Buoy and one of the green ones (as is at the moment).

Dare I say there isn't really a channel!

The fees are supposed to go to maintenance and then other new developments.

I am sorry you didn't get a reply from the Commodore; I'm away at the moment otherwise would pop down and make a point about it. Might get a chance at the end of the week.
