West.Med to Holland

Dear All - need some advise. Sailing our boat from Mallorca through the french canals to Holland and later to the UK. Rig transport on board - or sep. by road transport? Advises for harbours/restaurants/heritage viewings etc.? Charts, Maps, Cruising books neccessary/available? Regards Maximo

Hi maximo, and welcome to the forum

I think praps this forum is sometimes misunderstood by newcomers. It's an exchange of information between all contributors. Contributors aren't paid, and it isn't really a free information service, not is there a panel which are tasked to plan passages for you - tho many can and will help. It's an EXCHANGE facility - others drool over your past experiences and future plans and in return will chip in with any useful info - often quite a lot. But a quickie post asking for a huge wodge of info probably won't get the response you want.

I suppose the point I'm making is that posts/threads can gain a better response if you have done a bit (or in your case quite a lot more) homeweork on the subject, and then posted all that up on a thread. "I'm planning on going this route, stopping these places, with this boat, planning using these suppliers. Comments?" for example.

Otherwise, someone will need to write a book for each of these too-wide and too-general queries. Praps post up your plans/route so far, and then individuals with usefuil advice could comment?
