We are planning a trip from Chichester to Falmouth, just wonder if anyone can recommend any book or books that describe the cruising ground beyond the Solent ?

Agree with all that for the West Country guide. The Shell Channel Pilot is also really good and provides similar level of technical information

You may like to know that the entrance channel to the River Exe has changed recently. There is now a safe water mark to the south of Pole sand, and a new swatchway running almost South to North. Strangers to the area trying to come into the river using the old channel will have to drag their boats over a new sandbank if entering at any other time than HW. Not sure if Fishwick's book reflects this update, but I think Reeds does.
