I went to see a boat yesterday, it was in unbelievable rough condition, so bad that I didn't even bother surveying it. Yet the price being asked was that of a good model. Where do dudes get their idea of prices from? I can only assume they see what others are being sold for and take that as a price guide.
This one was so bad that I wouldn't want it at half the price he was asking.

Found the same when I went to look at a boat in HOO marina whist we were at LIBS. Guy was asking £120K which is about right for the year and model. However once aboard, it was a bit of a shambles. They had been living aboard for 5 years, hadn't been out of the Medway and had cats on board. Went back to Excel and told the brokers I may be interested but for no more than £80k as I reckoned that it would take at least £20k to bring it up to a reasonable standard. It also needed new teak decks as the old ones looked like they had been pressure washed. Eugh!!
Some people need to get real.

I daren't tell you what it was Simon as I am too embarrassed. Suffice it to say it was something to put in my Creek as a sort of summer house. I wouldn't be seen dead driving it.
