I'd tell you all about it but as there are only 3 displacement wooden boat fans on this forum I won't bother. Only problem was it was (a) over my current budget, and (b) in too good a condition to stick in a fault filled silly offer.

I love to see displacement wooden boats and I believe a lot of people on this forum do.The keyword is see, they remind us of how things once were and we get all nostalgic yet we dont want the hassle of looking after them.Nice to see a lot of work to own!

Why are they a lot of work? Are they a hassle? Are they really any more difficult to maintain properly than a glass boat, with volvos and outdrives etc. if they were built properly? Have you ever owned one? No? Then I respectfully suggest you are talking b....x! IMHO

Lovely, I own John Bains last design, he died before she was finished, he was supervising her build!

Cant remember the last time I had to re caulk my boat or replace a leaky sheer strake or wonder if the garboard strake would hold out in rough weather.Have no equipment anymore to steam planks for shape.Still at least you know everything means the rest of us can plod along in ignorance!!!
