I don't know if any of you are familiar with the construction of the cabin floor in the Wellcraft 250 Sportsman. I have recently "finished" a refurb on this boat and one little niggle remains. I find the floor in the cabin has a bit of spring, but mostly only in the very centre. To the front and back and all around the sides it is very solid. I don't know the construction methods beneath the floor, but there are a pair of large stringers that run lengthways along either side and a similar set up at the front and back.

These stringers restrict any access to the void that exists beneath the floor and so I can't see what's going on in there. The floor is a fibreglass/gelcoat type of arrangement and it's possible it has a plywood floor underneath. If so, I suspect that the plywood and fibreglass has possibly separated. Then again, perhaps there is no support beneath it at all.

I have a pair of hatches, surplus to requirements and was considering fitting one of these into the floor. Cutting out the opening for the hatch would allow access for any remedial supports/strengthening and would give me access for future reference. Alternatively, I could cut out the required section and reinstate it, and cover the floor with a suitable floor covering/linoleum. The floor area in question measures about 5' x 1'6" and is shown in the attached picture.Cooler box worktop and sink combo.jpg I don't have a clearer picture to hand.

Any thoughts? Any information on the construction methods employed in the floor? Thanks in Advance.
