It just shows that it's worth checking. After the death of our Stowe / Robertson wind instrument a while ago, the on deck speed head went phut. Now, the databox & log were ok as the data was displayed at the chart table.
Sigh.
Then, a brand new, in the box - probably from 1995 odd - display head turned up on the internet. £40 + postage. It turned up at the marina today - original packaging, instructions and the plastic protection still on the screen. Plugged in and, hey presto, SPEED!
Interestingly, the subsequent Simrad rebrand (which is what went phut) turns out to be a rather cheaper looking cover over the original, better Robertson design. Why they bothered to put cheap looking, square dummy press switches over the rather nicer round Robertson ones, who knows.
The warranty card is included - should I fill it in .....
