With the help of NAS (Neil), Stargazer was safely moved from Tollesbury to Ipswich Haven, with an overnight stop at Brightlingsea.

NAS has written a full account of the trip on his blog, so I won't duplicate it. Suffice it to add a few highlights:

Many thanks to Neil for being acting as mentor/tech support/third hand, and roll on next weekend!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

She looks beautiful - The boat's not bad either !!

Seriously, Stargazer seems to be in very good condition. Impressed that SWMBO's waterproofs match the colour scheme of the boat's decals.

Congrats on becoming a Moody Owner, don't forget to have a look at the Association website http://moodyowners.org.uk/ Plenty of of useful information and good events.

I hope NAS wasn't too tetchy from nicotine withdrawal symptoms!

I've downloaded the form to join the MOA

Neil had better update you on the status of his nicotine withdrawal.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Congratulations, and welcome to the Moody crowd.
(Now to keep her shiny like that!)
Hope to see you on the hook sometime. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I chartered a Moody 31 Dunstaffnage, Scotland quite a few years ago and still remember it fondly, nice and solid and sailed well even though we were under storm jib and 3 reefs in the main.

I'm sure you'll be enjoying Stargazer in the years to come...

Congratulations. They are lovely boats - hope to see you off the East Coast sometime. We had a lot of lovely winter sails in the Orwell/Stour the winter before last.

Enjoy it!

Nicotine withdrawal..... ahem... suffice to say that i'll need to have another go....

As for Stargazer.... you are right to point out that she is in good nick..... absolutely superb nick would be a better description..... not many of us lucky enough to have a surveyor that states "this boat hasn't been owned.... its been cherished...."

John,
Did the coathangers in yer Gobs causing the major grins in the photo come from the hanging locker, or now a permanent feature?

Just a little point though. Are you going to remove the offending fender from the stern view? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well done, she looks lovely

Jim

Offending Fenders

Mea Culpa. I realise setting sail with dangling fenders is akin to walking out with your flies undone.

Actually, it's a slightly soggy ballon fender which we decided not to put in the locker to remind us to inflate it. Needless to say, we forgot...

I will pass on the complements to Stargazer's former owners, I'm sure they'll be pleased (especially the dog who must have been busy clearing all his long hairs off the boat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

Paul.

We are still in contact with our Moody 31's previous owner, who cherished her like yours. We send him postcards whenever she goes abroad, and the odd photo of her in foreign ancorages, and since he's retired from boating, he appreciates some contact with his old boat. We've never met him!

Shame Neil, but they do say that most successful quitters have had several previous attempts. Next time you'll have a better idea where you went wrong and can prepare.

Best wishes
Tom

Oops, didn't mean to be smug/condescending. It's generally accepted that most smokers will take several attempts to quit, and that they build valuable experience with each attempt. So it's not a failure for NAS, just a training run. He's been through the first week, which is the most difficult. Now he has to build stamina!

I'm on about my 4th serious attempt and know that my low-point has yet to come. So far so good, but I'm not fooling myself that I've done it yet.
