With a massive thanks to MoodySabre we managed to get our little boat from Tollesbury to Hullbridge yesterday.
Planned a nice early start and we left our mooring just before 9am, as soon as the gauge showed enough water to get over the sill. By 9.45am we were back on the mooring at Tollesbury with a non-running engine. Diagnosed the problem which was some broken bushes causing a throttle linkage from the remote control to pop out. After several failed attempts to fix the bar in place we decided on an alternative remote setup.

Never leave home without cable ties.

We finally left again at 11am. Not ideal, but the engine was running fine and we made good speed so went for the short cut over the Raysand on a falling tide. No problem.
Once through Burnham it became clear that we weren't going to make our mooring before low water. This resulted in a stop off at Fambridge where we met another kind forum member who provided some much needed refreshments. After dinner and more refreshments in the pub we headed off again and by 9pm we were on our mooring.
After a short row to shore Roger's wife very kindly collected us all and delivered us home safely.
It was a great experience and we owe a huge debt to Roger and his lovely Wife for all their help. Many thanks.

It was a long but most enjoyable day. Sorry we didn't get to sail but it was best not to stop the engine until we had too.

Have lots of fun with a nice little boat.

Fellow Crouchites: You have been warned :D
