I resisted the temptation!
I thought one of these, with the addition of some red lens repair tape, might make a cheap chart table light.

You can get similar red LED fittings pretty cheaply on the web, so you don't need the tape. I'm halfway through fitting a few on the chart table as red 'night' lights. They were sold as truck side lights.

They are not all that good. I bought 3 for the kitchen. Not bright enough to be useful. Only good for effect . But at least they don't need any wiring and stick on flat surface with double sided £M self adhesive pads (or a magnetic pad for steel surfaces)
I reckon they'd be Ok above a chart table without a red filter ( which might not even match the cold white LED spectrum anyway)
not quite as stupid as underwater lighting though ........ and somewhat cheaper
I am sure you will find better for dark lockers
