My Sumlog didn't work and a new transucer is £187... So, pulled it out and took it to bits and the reed switch was busted. One new reed switch from Maplins for the aforementioned £1.57 and some fiddly soldering plus a bit of silicone sealer - and one fully working log! Oh the magnets were a bit weak so another £1 or so bought 2 new ones! Took the Fairey out and thrashed an indicated 26kts out of it. Brill! :D
Anyone who needs advice on "how to" on this let me know.;)

Like it.... :)

What else are you good at?

Ooo err missus;)
Errm. Well, anything electrical and most things mechanical. Ought to be after 40 odd years of playing with cars, bikes, and boats. Done a lot of clever (so I am told) electrical stuff with chargers, inverters etc. The Fairey is getting a very 21st C update. Assuming this was what you were asking of, M'Lady.:D

I read your post with great interest , my transducer unit appears to have suffered water ingress . How did you remove the resin(?) without damaging the innards .Any advice would be gratefully received .Like you I am repelled by the cost of a new transducer unit.
