Well I don't know about you but....

yeh know what you mean this is my first half a weekend off since 7 weeks ago, and for once the weather is holding up, i swear to god if the weather takes a change for the worst i will go potty myself.

Fingers crossed for every one who has a chance to get out.

I have seen some conflicting reports on the wind levels for Saturday.

My son wants to take our bowrider from Calshot to Yarmouth on Friday around 11am which looks probably ok but perhaps a bit bouncy off Calshot

However the return trip Yarmouth to Calshot on Saturday afternoon looks decidedly windy for a bowrider, F4 gusting F6 on one forecast I have seen.

I have booked the Newtown Creek ranges for the weekend for an exercise.

Is there a more local knowledge feeling on the weather?

going to a wedding on Friday.... in Exeter:confused: staying over and returning home Saturday, quick unpack and repack and down to the boat Saturday pm... had already booked into Yarmouth Sunday night & organised to meet up with friends in Yarmouth... so will miss forum BBQ, have fun everyone, you never know... one day I may be brave enough to show my face..

I'm really looking forward to getting down to the boat this weekend and finally putting some faces to names on sunday at the bbq. The weather looks fantastic so far for the Solent: http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/hamble-le-rice/so31-4/weekend-weather/52396_pc please God let it stay that way or maybe even warmer.

There was a time when we would steam from Plymouth after a 310 mile car ride from Lancashire. To any forum meeting, regardless mostly of weather. The Bill was a bummer for half an hour, but it did not stop us, then we learned the easy way. Not sure many forum members would do that these days.

The times they are a changing.

It's about 310ft from the garden to the boat.
If the weather is rubbish, I have other toys to play with, so no need to have a swimming pool going over the flybridge.
So yes, times change, but boating and burning diesel still has its place.
I'm just more fussy now about when to go out.

We're in Yarmouth Sat and Sun nights on a walk ashore - will be sure to say Hi Firefly and if anybody else is not at the forum BBQ we usually have beer in the fridge :) As to the wind.. cripes I don't believe Accuweather, they always under-forecast it IMO. Looks like 18-20 knots from other forecasts... It's currently 15 knots on Bramblemet; Accuweather thinks it should be 6.

Well it was a good F6 and choppy, being a sports boat we abandoned plans for today and I came across on the ferry. There was a mayday in progress at Hurst castle, the Yarmouth lifeboat and a helicopter attended. Radio suggested it was an injury. Thought I saw Henry leaving Lymington , if he was heading east to Cowes then it was the right direction with the wind.

Marina neighbour came back across from Bembridge today in his Fairline Targa 30 - they got bounced around towards the end.

That's the only downside of being on Hayling: the last few miles back from the IOW are effectively open sea, then you are faced with Chichester Bar, so the "place where you are most likely to come to grief" is the last bit.

Well we're tucked up safe and sound in Yarmouth. We waited most of the day at Cote Gosport but with the wind decreasing, though still 20 knots, but crucially with the tide we left about 5pm. It was smoother than expected considering we were taking it on the nose most of the way; worst part crossing from the inner swashway.

Sitting in the cockpit now with a bottle of white having just watched a fantastic sunset. Wind has vanished.
