I have just arrived home, after doing my second trip with GC1
What a player, what a hero, what a skipper, and his greatest talent, writing. As you are aware this was a brand new boat, and I believe we only pulled in to Newton Creek so he could lower the hook. The windlass button was one he had not played with, once it had hit the sea bed it was up again, and our intrepid skipper took us on to our destination.
I was proud to be standing on the bow as GC1 gave a brilliant display of boat handling as we approached our berth. Deft handling of the throttle had us going forwards and backwards. His best perfomance was a double pirouette 720 degrees. The announced arrival of such a star attracted an audience of some 3000 people who begged for an encore, but GC1,s modesty prevented him from showing off too much, and he successfully brought Memory Maker alondside to thunderous applause. The return journey was much quicker, no sooner had we slipped our mooring we were powering down the solent back to the Hamble.
I think GC1s' wife deserves a mention, a lovelly lady, I think you can tell when you get on with someone, as we now share the same therapist.
Should I ever be called to serve again I would be glad to do so.
