I have just arrived home, after doing my second trip with GC1
What a player, what a hero, what a skipper, and his greatest talent, writing. As you are aware this was a brand new boat, and I believe we only pulled in to Newton Creek so he could lower the hook. The windlass button was one he had not played with, once it had hit the sea bed it was up again, and our intrepid skipper took us on to our destination.
I was proud to be standing on the bow as GC1 gave a brilliant display of boat handling as we approached our berth. Deft handling of the throttle had us going forwards and backwards. His best perfomance was a double pirouette 720 degrees. The announced arrival of such a star attracted an audience of some 3000 people who begged for an encore, but GC1,s modesty prevented him from showing off too much, and he successfully brought Memory Maker alondside to thunderous applause. The return journey was much quicker, no sooner had we slipped our mooring we were powering down the solent back to the Hamble.
I think GC1s' wife deserves a mention, a lovelly lady, I think you can tell when you get on with someone, as we now share the same therapist.
Should I ever be called to serve again I would be glad to do so.

Why is it , that everyone returning from this little gathering , has failed to post any pictures identifying said forumite ? . Those of us that were unable to make it this time would love to know what he , and everybody else , actually looks like . Wife still thinks he looks like Pricky Germaloids /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Come on peeps , let's see some pics please /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Give them a chance, some will not be home yet. They will be worth waiting for, I'm sure.
Due to national security I don't think pictures of GC1 are allowed to be printed

Well now, having just uploaded the best part of 200 pics I will see how the tone of the pictures and post go b4 submitting mine, but...here for those of you who cant wait here is an exasperated mini-makkers walking away from GC1. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

See he has the same effect on the younger generation /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Etap Owner seems to want to earn a few bob. As you live in Canada I'm sure if you cross his palm with silver he will send you some photos in a plain brown envelope /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Do you think it's that constant contact with a live blackberry which causes his pixellation?

Like his protons and neutrons have been neatly re-arranged into cubes by the internet fairies he never dares relinquish. Expect he was wandering around the island looking for coverage. Jeez!

Hurrah!

Yes, I would like to second the boat handling display.

It was truly exquiste..........720degrees and 15 knots. What I particularly enjoyed was the stern manouver down the fairway almost on the plane with the bow fish- tailing in the wake.

I was ever so pleased when a big boat rafted up on my outboard side to offer my humble craft some protection!

All this with the new fenders safely in their bow baskets and mooring lines stowed .

Bloody Good Oh!

Will post a report on this event later in the week - thanks to all - it was fun.

We too had an interesting ride back in F6/7 and the volvo boats doing 30knots off Whitecliff looked good.......

Re: Hurrah!

For ages I must admit to thinking that GC1 was the alias of a bored forumite, never have so many posts seen so many views and comments as those with GC1 in.

However I am still not sure he exists, no pictures, just comments......could be a huge wind up from the raggie community!

Mooring line definately cleated and ready for berthing, it is what had to hold on to, without it I would have been in the drink. The four fenders you saw in their baskets were surplus to requirements as we had 47 on board.

I don't know if he is serious, but he was talking about taking his boat across the pond next.

Re: Hurrah!

Do you mean the boating lake /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif they call the Solent or the real pond the North Atlantic. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
There's no Newtown Creek to hide in when it blows an f11 out there. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
By the way I do know I've spent more than 200 days on it =24 + crossings at 8 to 10days a time, and seen and experienced all it can though at you.
Not that I wish to put a dampener on his plans but some experience in the Irish sea first would be a good idea.
Now I must duck as the NW guys will be after me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Pleased to here you all enjoyed the W/E at Yarmouth.
