After all we drove round to Mersea and we managed to find a parking place close to the boatyard.
We had a great time. Listened to the music, had a drink, watched the rowing races and the swimming, mooched around the stalls, had a look at the funfair, dodged the rain and then when the sun came out again had a dance at the ceilidh.
Great buzz, and great to see everyone enjoying themselves and the clubs open and welcoming everyone.
Not like Burnham week when the objective seems to keep the riff raff out......
Maybe that's why Burnham Week seems to be dying compared to what it was fifteen years ago when we first arrived here and Mersea Regatta is such a vibrant occasion.
So, thanks to Mersea for a great day out - well done to everyone involved. And the fireworks were spectacular.
