No less than a Queens Award for Enterprise. An excellent product with a great guy running it, Eifrion, you must be a proud chap. Can't wait to see mine working when we finally hit the water.

Started off thinking static but then Debs said why not go the whole hog!! So colour changing is what we have. Can't wait to use them.

Yes indeed. Details all over the yachting press eg here http://www.motorboatsmonthly.co.uk/news/536473/lumishore-underwater-lighting-wins-queen-s-award

This is a fantastic achievement for the Lumishore team. The company was a start up capitalised by the founders' savings and they were making lights on the founder's kitchen table in 2008, and now they have invented and make the best product in the market (23000 fixture lumens, and 2-way DMX control). They do proper R+D and invent new stuff with proper technology and engineering. They are sworn to secrecy on superyacht work as usual but they have big superyacht installations launched and even bigger installations going into superyachts in build now. Annual turnover is now comfortably in the 7 digit bracket

And on top of that they're a really nice bunch of people who are mad keen on boats!

Very well said JFM. In addition to that, when I enquired a couple of years back at the start of my project they couldn't have been more helpful - despite my requirements being tiny in the overall scheme of things. That customer care is the sign of a good business for me and I will be buying mine when the time comes! :encouragement:

Congratulations to EME & C.
I'm not a fan of u/w lights myself, but I could easily see why you are successful last summer, when Blue Angel was moored next to a P95 (no less), with the following result....

Congratulations to EME and Lumishore! Here are my new Lumishores flying the flag for Britain only last week

Thank you very much for your kind words. All are really appreciated. I have to apologise for not yet having thanked everyone individually for their support and custom. We all know that we couldn't have achieved the Queen's Award for Enterprise without each and every customer.

I'm really proud of what the folks have achieved. At the core of the business have always been G & T ( real people - not my drinking habits!) who are world-class engineers who would make a success of any electronics business. I'm just grateful that they chose to work in boating and underwater lighting in particular.

Lumishore is actually a "Forum" success story in so many ways. G & I were introduced by Wakeup -- and Wakeup & I originally met at one of TCM's (in)famous London parties, where, of course, many of us first met. So you can all blame TCM for Lumishore! Most of our 'first customers': Riblite, Thru-Hull Colour Change system, Surface Mount Colour Change system, Dock lights, etc etc were friends from this forum.

We're all very aware that Awards recognise yesterday's achievements and we know that ongoing success can only come from tomorrow's customers and exceeding their expectations. So after 24 hours of celebration everyone is back on the case!

On behalf of all of us at Lumishore … Thank You.

EME, have you sold the film rights to the Lumishore rags to riches story yet? I'm sure there's a Hollywood blockbuster in it. I'm seeing you played by Danny DeVito and TCM by Christopher Lee:D

Congratulations EME and the team at Lumishore.

You'll have some company at Buckingham Palace, as my best mate (Carl) that you met in Monaco for the GP has also received a Queen's award (for export) this year.

Maybe I should apply for a DTI grant to get the boat into Monaco again next year, and create some more captains of industry! :D

I tried; but all the Hollywood producers saw it as a ' Rags to Rags' story! Don't you think Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) would do TCM better? The opening would have to be the "Trouble with Mechanical Engineers is …." story.

Background for others .. TCM, Deleted User, JFM and I were all sat around one day when I came out with that infamous line …. all three are highly qualified and extremely able …. Mechanical Engineers ;-)

Please send Carl our congratulations and best wishes. Will I have to buy a new suit as well?
