Mine arrived yesterday thanks Haydn, kids think it's "cool". When I fly it on my little sailing boat does it mean that I will be invaded by alcohol seeking stinkies? I will be nice to them of course, would even offer Coliholic a towel to dry off, he's been soaking for ages. Also what sort of greeting does one use "Ahoy poster" "Oi you" "I say old thing" "P**s of I'm busy" "Sorry I'm tea total" or "Hello Pauline didn't recognise you with your clothes on, but come aboard anyway"
Instant access to booze cupboard but no more than 5 gallons per burgee holder and gotta be the good stuff kept in secret locker. Not ordinary muck kept for ordinary friends.
Course it does Kev. However if the burgee flying is a "1,000" then it is your duty to immediately offer beer, money and dinner if asked for. So please ensure you are carrying sufficient quantities of booze next week!
So in the normal course of things - If you see any boat flying the burgee then feel free to knock on the transom and say "Er... I'm KevB from the forum, I see you've got the gin pennant up - where's my beer?"
Question is does it fly higher or lower than the club one? And does it take precedence over your cruise leader burgee? See there is always something to change the buggeration factor <G>
Mrs B - I am both surprised and disappointed by your constant truculent behaviour in attempting at almost every opportunity to drag this forum back to felching. Once there you naively put your hand up, and ask someone to explain it - and we all are forced to watch with amusement as some newbie struggles to explain it without embarrassing themselves too much.
This must cease, and cease immediately. See me for a detailed explanation.
Through difficulties to the bar (IMHO / FWIW / NWGOI)
I'll fly mine even when we are Towing the boat up the motorway - lots of chance to say hello, stop off at the services.
So how does one signal at 60 mph in the middle lane ???
Adrian
Don't call me "Sandra"
Cleopatra - yellow hull called Court Jester. Have you seen her ?
All agreed. I think it would be a good idea for burgee flyers to have little sticky on name (BarryD, tcm etc) somewhere on the boat praps at stern where it could be seen whilst boat on pontoon, so can instantly recognise who is on the boat. This is so the tapper can easily identify the tappee (on the boat), and mentally check if they are a bit of a git or has flamed them recently etc.
It does mean you are welcome on Englander, if its flying, I'm home and available, if its not P**s off and leave me alone! Mine is easy to see, I fly it from my pilot jack, (Thats the little flag pole on the bow rail) You can see it easily, and I like mine stiff, you can see it easier, in fact once it gets soft, I'll insert some wire to keep it stiff, cheaper than viagra!
