Ms Lumleys success with the Gurkha campaign has mnspired me to seek out a new cause for us boaters to embrace.

"Welcome By River" - a new award to be voted on each year by Thames licence holders to recognise establishments on the river that go the extra mile to make us boaters welcome.

What say you?

Excellent idea, I think Abingdon should be commended for zapping the mooring fee to encourage folks to stop.
(Least it was the last time I went there about 10 years ago, this is where Brayman corrects me!!)

Good idea. I like the moorings just above Wallingford Bridge which have been refurbished by the local authority (I think). There is not very much room there (rafting issue?) but a good effort and pretty popular. We have stopped there a couple of times and gone for lunch in the town and to do some shopping.

I think they wanted to do something below the bridge as well but could not get permission
