Weird fault on Simrad RS81 VHF

Left entirely to its own devices, the VHF set switched itself on and, after a while, off again. Happened several times. I disconnected the power, reconnected and it did it again. Repeated dis/reconnection and it has behaved itself for 24 hours (so far). Has anyone else experienced this? Or any ideas as to what is going on?

How is it normally turned on?

It is permanently powered and switched on by pressing the ON button.

It is permanently powered and switched on by pressing the ON button.

Maybe the ON button is getting tired.
