Lifted my boat out today with the harbour crane which can measure load (unlike the local marina's). It was a bit harrowing.

What is the average weight of a 34 foot sports / express cruiser. My Formula 34 PC was showing 8200 kg, empty of water but full with diesel. Seems a bit heavy.
No unusual junk etc or equipment onboard, in fact all the heavy stuff such as onboard genny, aircon etc have been removed so she should be lighter. Brochure says 7000kg

I made absolutely sure the black water tank was spotlessly empty before lifting. :disgust:

Fuel. That's a bit of a guess. About 800 litre I'd guess. I never go below half or so with the biggest fill being ~ 550 litre and the guages showing between reserve and 1/4 at the time. (They aren't the most accurate hence never going below half if can be helped)

So hull + fuel = 7700kg
200kg of cruising stuff.
100kg of water in the tank.
100kg of beer, wine and fish.
100kg of water in the hull or an illegal immigrant?

The manufacturers weight will be without fuel i would guess.

800litres of diesel weighs 680kg, so thats a fair chunk of your extra weight.

Nope . The boat is empty and dry. Maybe account for less than 100kg in cruising stuff now. I cant account for ~500kg and I doubt it's extra layup

Fiberglass does take on water, perhaps after a long lay up in the sun it might be lighter

Yes. The crane can't get it's ticket without one annually inspected. 600kg of rigging below the boom and 8800kg all up.

Tell me about it. Flat calm then wind gusts out of nowhere to 25mph. She was swinging all over the place and bashing into the floating fuel pontoon. Was less the happy as I said above. I was sure she was going to slip but she held solid just bow down

good point! Most likely the petrol V8s. Might be conundrum solved. Just how much heavier is a KAD42 compared to a mercuiser 7 litre jobie?

I think it's the fella with the line to the bow, who is clearly pulling downwards...

More seriously: 100kg of antifoul plus fouling, perhaps?

I see canvas and fenders, are they in the factory weight?

Yes. I've just downloaded the 1992 Formula brochure. They publish an approximate weight or 13000 lbs or ~5.9 tons. Add 800 kg of diesel and that goes to 6.7 tons. I'm nearly 1.5 tons over. Being extremely generous take off 500kg for chain and anchor and bric-a-brack on board I'm still a ton over weight. I'm completely lost on that score.
