Newport IoW to Lymington yesterday afternoon. Winds upto 28knots according to my wind vane with a very rough short sea. Decided to motor into it and got soaked but two thirds of the way the engine packed up - tank only one quarter full - I'm guessing it was sucking in a lot of air by the way our 23 footer was being tossed around.
But I'm glad, it meant I had to sail and how much more comfortable that was, tacking only once as the ebb took us along. Currently not raining in Lymington so anyone who did set out in this part of the south coast would have been rewarded with good sailing and not too wet weather (as yet).
