WEEKEND SAILING FORECAST
Issued: 1430 Friday 8th July 2005
SATURDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack0a.gif)
A ridge of high pressure building from the Azores high, and dominating the weather for many this weekend. Cooler air at upper levels is moving into the Low Countries, and this bringing an occluded front to eastern coasts. A weak warm front passing eastwards across Ireland and into western Scotland.
Outbreaks of showery rain still affecting eastern areas through the course of Saturday morning. Most of these should fade, although east Anglia and the southeast always at risk from a shower. Much brighter weather in the Midlands, Wales, southwest England and northern England in the afternoon, staying mainly dry here.
The warm front will bring cloud into Ireland and Scotland, with thicker cloud and drizzle across western and northern Scotland, where there could be mist and fog on coasts as well.
Winds N-NE 12-15kt (F4) over the Eastern Channel and southeast England. Mainly N 5-10kt (F3) over western areas, mainly SW 12-15kt (F4) in NW Scotland.
SUNDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack1a.gif)
High pressure moving into southern Ireland at midday on Sunday, as the warm front passes into northern England, although as a weakening feature. The NE flow persists over southeast England.
A few showers may affect parts of East Anglia and Kent through Sunday, although this risk lowering through the day. Variable cloud for eastern Ireland and northwest England, as well as southern and eastern Scotland, although we suspect it will be dry. The far northwest of Scotland may be clipped by a little cloud and an odd shower too, but generally dry.
Winds NE 20-25kt (F5 perhaps F6) around the coasts of Kent and East Anglia. Tot rhe west mainly N-NE 5-10kt (F2-F3). Generally SW 25kt (F6) in the far northwest of Scotland.
