WEEKEND SAILING FORECAST
Issued: 1030 Wednesday 1st June 2005

FRIDAY (See http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+60.gif)
A cold front is going to be slow to clear from eastern England this morning. There is a hint of a trough moving north through east Anglia, ahead of the front, perhaps bringing some heavier rain. A weak ridge follows the front, but then showery troughs moving into Ireland and Scotland.
A damp and cloudy morning through many central and eastern areas. There will be outbreaks of showery rain, most of it light. Some heavier bursts of rain could occur in the afternoon through southeast England as the trough moves north ahead of the front. Much brighter weather for western England and Wales; sunny spells here, although an increasing risk of showers in the afternoon, some heavy on western coasts.
For Scotland and Ireland there will be sunshine and showers. The showers tending to be heaviest in western Ireland and the west of Scotland. Shetland may stay cloudy and wet throughout the day.
Winds S 8-10kt (F3) ahead of the front, becoming SW 10-14kt (F3-F4) behind it. Increasing SW 15-20kt (F5) in western Ireland later.

SATURDAY (See http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+84.gif)
A complex area of low pressure is expected close to Scotland through the day, extending into Scandinavia. A trough, associated with the low, is going to push east across the country during the morning, clearing into the North Sea in the afternoon.
A brighter day overall. There will be some cloud and showers in the morning, all associated with the trough. Most of the cloud and showers across Scotland, northern England and parts of the Midlands. Eventually the cloud and showers clear into the North Sea with these areas then dry and bright with sunny spells. For most other parts of the UK and Ireland there will be sunny spells and scattered showers. Most of the showers will be affecting western parts of England and Wales.
Later in the day cloud may increase over Ireland, making the sunshine more hazy and possibly thickening to bring drizzle to the far southwest of Ireland in the evening.
Winds mainly W 14-20kt (F4-F5 but occ F6 in exposed areas). Variable 5-10kt (F3) on eastern Scottish coasts.

SUNDAY (See http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+108.gif)
Confidence in Sunday's forecast is lower at the moment, so you will need to monitor this one carefully. A small area of low pressure is expected to track through Ireland and into the UK on Sunday. It is always difficult to forecast the tracks of these lows and so at the moment it is probably best not to be too precise. You should monitor the forecast carefully over the coming days.
After a bright start it will become a more unsettled day. Rain could move through Ireland, Scotland, Wales and western England, becoming heavy at times. This then passes into northern England and Scotland in the afternoon.
Winds to the south of the low will be SW then W 12-20kt (F4-F5) increasing W 22-30kt (F6-F7) possibly in the west. Lighter winds to the north of the low.
