WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
==========================
Issued: 1220 Friday 17th August 2007
SATURDAY ( see http://www.weatherweb.net/aviations/charts/AAG.htm and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+36.gif )
Low pressure centred over southeast Ireland at midday on Saturday is going to be having a major influence on the weather of the UK and Ireland. An occluded front will be moving east and northwards through the country during the day, as the low drifts eastwards.
Plenty of cloud for all areas with outbreaks of rain. The focus for heavier rain is likely to be southwest Scotland, Wales and parts of northwest England. Low cloud will shroud the hills and coasts. Only the far north of Scotland may escape the worst of the weather, with some sunny spells and a few showers in Orkney and Shetland.
Increasing winds for Parts of the west through the day, gales over Scotland, Ireland, the west coasts of Wales and southwest England overnight.
Winds Mainly S 15-20kt (F4-F5) for much of central and eastern England, cyclonic 20-25kt (F5-F6) in the west, becoming N-NE 25-30kt (F6-F7) through Ireland and southern Scotland. Mainly variable 5-10kt (F3) over northern Scotland.
SUNDAY ( see http://www.weatherweb.net/aviations/charts/AAK.htm and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+60.gif )
Low pressure drifts into the North Sea on Sunday, with a north to northwesterly flow following. An occluded front will be north to south through the country. A further occluded front approaches western Ireland later.
Plenty of cloud and outbreaks of rain for much of eastern Scotland and most of England through Sunday. The rain probably fading and then heavy showers developing through the Midlands and southern England, with the risk of some thunderstorms. A few showers for Ireland, some heavy at first. The best of the weather for northern Scotland.
Winds cyclonic 10-15kt (F3-F4) through most of England, mainly NW 18-25kt (F6) over Wales, western England and Ireland, NE 18-25kt (F6) for Scotland.
