Hi All,

I've started producing charts of pressure and surface wind, together with rainfall out to 120hrs (5 days ahead). They are available via the website at http://www.weatherweb.net/uksail.htm and are updated 4x a day. The charts are in 3-hourly steps to 24-hours ahead, then 6-hourly thereafter. They are produced using the GFS model..

These are very much a work-in-progress and they are likely to change. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see, and if I can produce it from the model, I will. Hope you find them useful.

If your friends want to receive this forecast all they need do is send an email to sailingweather-subscribe@weatherweb.net

Have good one,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
==========================
Issued: 1500 Thursday 2nd August 2007

FRIDAY ( see http://www.weatherweb.net/aviations/charts/AAG.htm and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+36.gif )
Low pressure to the southwest of Ireland, with high pressure extending from the Azores and a centred over the Brest Peninsula. A weakening warm front is expected from Aberdeen to Brest at midday, moving east with a southwesterly flow covering the country.
Plenty of cloud around over much of Scotland, Ireland, northern England, Wales and southwest England in the morning. Outbreaks of rain are likely on many southwest facing coasts and hills, especially Scotland, northwest England and Ireland. Further inland and to the east it should be a brighter morning, although still with plenty of cloud.
The afternoon sees outbreaks of rain for much of Scotland, northern and western Ireland. Most of southern Ireland, Wales and England should be drier and will become muggy. There will be some bright spells around, especially to the lee of the hills.
I do have a suspicion that west coasts of northwest England, Wales and parts of southwest England could be troubled by low cloud and drizzle at times. A risk of mist and fog patches here too.
Winds will be SW 12-16kt (F4 occ F5) in the south, SW 25-30kt (F6 occ F7) in the north.

SATURDAY ( see http://www.weatherweb.net/aviations/charts/AAK.htm and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+60.gif )
Low pressure between Scotland and Iceland on Saturday as high pressure slips into central Germany. The southwest flow persists through the British Isles and Ireland, with a front becoming slowly moving from southern Ireland to northern England at midday.
For much of southern and central Ireland, north Wales and northern England the day is going to be cloudy and damp with outbreaks of rain. This rain may well push back northwards in the afternoon. Before this, Scotland and Northern Ireland will have sunshine and heavy showers, most of them to the west.
For most of the rest of England and Wales the day should be bright and dry with sunny spells. Some low cloud and drizzle can never be ruled out for west coasts of Wales and England though.
Winds SW 15-25kt (F5-F6).

SUNDAY ( see http://www.weatherweb.net/aviations/charts/AAO.htm and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+60.gif )
Lower confidence in this forecast, certainly one that needs watching carefully. A slack pressure regime establishing itself over the country on Sunday. Weak areas of low pressure will be forming over western areas, with a front trailing through Scotland and eastern Ireland.
For Scotland, eastern Ireland there may be some heavy periods of rain for much of the day. These tracking into Wales and northern England in the afternoon, possibly reaching the southwest too. For central and eastern England, after a fine start, there is a risk of some thundery showers being set off in the afternoon, notably through the Midlands and northeast. Much of southern England should be drier and hot.
Winds variable 4 to 10kt (F2-F3).
