WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
==========================
Issued: 1400 Friday 18th May 2007

SATURDAY ( see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn301.png and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+36.gif )
A deep area of low pressure is going to be centred to the north of Scotland through Saturday. An occluded front will be extending west to east through central parts of Scotland, this being pulled away slowly northeastwards. Over the south a ridge will be extending through the southern Channel and into the Bay of Biscay. A strong southwest flow covers the country with gales in the north.
Many central and southeastern areas will be bright and dry with some good sunny spells. It will be remaining dry into the afternoon here overall, although a few showers cannot be ruled out.
For Scotland, northern England, Wales and Ireland the showers will be more frequent. These showers could be heavy at times on western coasts with a risk of thunderstorms and hail. More persistent rain affects northern parts of Scotland, and again this could be heavy. Winds will be to gale force in Scotland and Ireland as well as on exposed coasts of northwest England.
Winds will be mainly W-WSW 15-20 gust 25-30kt (F6 gust F7) in the south, nearer W 25-30 gust 40-45kt through Scotland.

SUNDAY ( see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn541.png and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+60.gif )
A southwest to west flow through the country on Sunday with pressure slowly rising. A showery trough may move into the west of Scotland, moving steadily eastwards.
For most places the morning is going to be dry and fine with plenty of sunshine, and a noticeably reduced wind. Little change for the afternoon for most of England and Wales.
However, for the west of Scotland there will be some showers around, and a few of these may become heavy into the afternoon. The showers also crossing Ireland.
Winds mainly SW 5-10kt (F2-F3) in the south, nearer WSW 15kt (F4) through northern Scotland.
