Hi All,
Boy, now that was a rough one yesterday! 83mph gusts through Scotland, and 50mph as far as the south coast.
I don't think such strong winds will be returning this weekend, but having said that it will be unsettled.

A shallow are of low pressure is expected off Northern Ireland at midday tomorrow, this moving ENE during the day. The warm front will be over southern Scotland at that time with the cold front into western Ireland. A broad warm sector covers much of England, Wales and eastern Ireland.
A breezy day for England and Wales. Lots of cloud and some outbreaks of drizzly rain, most of this on western and southern coasts where there could also be fog patches.
Over Scotland expect heavy periods of rain as the low passes through except in Shetland and Orkney where it could stair fair until later. Ireland will start off with cloud and drizzle, but then heavy periods of rain approaching from the west as the cold front passes through.
Winds will be SW 20-25kt (F5-F6) gust 40-45kt (FF8-F9) over England, Wales and Ireland. Over Scotland, mainly S 5-15kt (F3-F4).

An area of high pressure building through France and into the south of England today. The broad southwest flow over the rest of the British Isles and Ireland with a warm front approaching western Scotland later.
A fair day across most places, although western coasts will always be prone to low cloud and drizzle. Eastern areas will have the best of the weather in sunny spells. For western Scotland and Northern Ireland cloud will be increasing bringing rain and drizzle later.
Winds mainly SW 12-16kt (F3-F4) in the far south, increasing steadily as you head north to be SW 20-25kt (F5-F6) over Scotland and western Ireland.
