WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
===========================
Issued 1100 Thursday 30th August 2012
Saturday:
A ridge of high pressure will be through southern parts of the country on Saturday. A west to southwest flow through more northern areas, with a warm front to the east and a cold front to the west allows for warm sector conditions to cover much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
These bring cloud and periods of rain to northern and western parts of Scotland, as well as to northern coasts of Northern Ireland. There could be spots of light rain affecting the far northwest of Cumbria too. More eastern parts of Scotland will be sheltered from the brisk southwest flow and so there may be some brighter spells here.
For England, Wales and southern Ireland the day is likely to be a fair one. There will be some good spells of sunshine, the best of them through more southern and eastern areas. Western coasts of Wales and southwest Scotland may well have some low cloud from time to time drifting in from the sea and this could reduced visibility here.
Winds mainly W-SW 11-14kt (F4) but SW 20-25kt (F6) in Scotland and to 30kt (F7) at times over western Scotland and the north of Ireland.

Sunday:
Pressure remains generally high across the country through Sunday, this extending as a ridge from the south. A cold front will be through southern Ireland, Wales and England though, and this will still be active enough to produce cloud and some spots of rain until the afternoon.
So for these southern areas there will be a fair amount of cloud through the morning with some spots of rain, most of it on western coasts of Wales and across southwest England and southern Ireland, where it could be rather murky. The rain will be fading away from these areas in the afternoon with some sunny spells developing, although always tending to be bright, rather than sunny.
Better sunny spells and drier weather to the north with the best sunshine across northeast England and the east of Scotland. A chance of a few showers in western Scotland.
Winds mainly W-WSW F12-15kt (F3-F4) but SW 14-17kt (F5) in northwest Scotland.
