weekend forecast looking great!

I was just looking at the Beaufort scale definitions in Wikipedia (to confirm that bft 2 = 5 knts) and found there are some intresting modern additions, not invisaged by Admrial Beaufort.

Bft 6 - Umbrella use becomes difficult. Empty plastic garbage cans tip over.
Bft 7 - Swaying of skyscrapers may be felt, especially by people on upper floors.
Bft 8 - Cars veer on road
Bft 9 - Damage to circus tents and canopies.

Big high.... maybe winds will be a little light, but looks overall like it'll be another cracker!

Off to Oostende.... so hoping for a bit more than the currently forecast 5kts!!!

As am I, but you know what will happen Neil when you wish for more wind, a complex little low will suddenly materialize from nowhere centered over Northern France giving near gale conditions and frightning the living daylights out of us.

Bugger! Got to go to Bruvver in laws burfday, Promised I'd do the barbecue; that was before I heard 60 people had been invited. Hope they're patient and have had a good breakfast...

Sadly can't go out in our yacht, but, almost next best thing, we have been invited to parties on a Sailing barge on Sat and Sunday.

With good weather should be good fun.

Only Tuesday now anyway, probably F8 and tropical rain by the weekend going on past forecasts

I think you're wrong here; I am assured by Neil that the weather on the East Coast is invariably benign and that North Sea crossings are always a broad reach, done to the accompaniment of a F3-4 gusting 5, sea state slight.

Have I been misinformed?

Just as an aside, Dave has 'prior' here..... last time I dragged him across the North Sea, he had the pleasure in coming back in a good solid F7 with sea state 'rough'..... I like to build his character a little for him.... :)

Got any of them piccies Dave?... let James see what he's in for....

Same trip back, look for the 3 dolphins in this pic....

Not at all - the average Channel crossing's either like this or this.

One's July, the other August.
