Well thanks for all the suggestions, should have stayed longer and tried them all.
On arriving decided to take a drink aboard the Mary Mouse and review the options and that is where the problem started, the staff were excellent, serving a decent pint and the restaurant, menu looked quite good and when the crew saw the advert to order and have it delivered to the boat that nearly clinched it. Gunwharf on the Gosport ferry nearly won the day but the description of being like "Port Solent on Speed" brought the thought of a rowdy night and that was that.
Talbots suggestion of Steak & Kidney pud at the Castle won the day and we were not dissapointed, a really good basic meal at a reasonable cost with a nice pint of 6X.
The walk back to the boat was interesting, with the local lads and lasses heading for Gunwharf on the ferry, +2degrees C and all in short sleeve shirts and the girls in skimpy dresses.
God they make em ard down ere!!
Thanks to all
