My DT8 makes the inflatable go very well, BUT...

It runs well from cold, and provides loads of thrust to get up onto the plane quickly, but as it warms up, say 2 or 3 mins or so, it struggles to get her onto the plane. It still turns over freely, so not siezing up due to overheating etc. When it eventually gets up onto the plane, it runs well again but the same happens when I try and get her planing after a slow down...

Im thinking its a bit rich on mixture but havent tried tuning it yet? Any other ideas??

May be a mixture or carb cleanliness problem ...... ????

Check that it is firing on both cylinders.

Tried new plugs ??

New plugs a few months ago. Carb was stripped down last week, ultrasonically cleaned and clean as a whistle, cos the idle jet was blocked. Will check that both are firing ok, but it sounds/feels like they are. I thought it may have been a lack of fuel at the time, but pumping the bulb made no difference. Thats why I thought it was the mixture.
I was off on holiday with the caravan, and took the dinghy for a bit of fun. My wee lad and I were playing in Scourie bay on the West Coast of Scotland when it was noticed. I cant remember if I played with the mixture when I cleaned the carb or not.
Also gonna try some fresh fuel and lean out the mixture and see how it goes from there.
Cheers.

surely you would have removed the mixture adjusting screws along with the jets and all other removable bits when you cleaned it. Hopefully you would have determined the settings before removing them and reset them to the original position initially when reassembling and fine tuned them once running.

Yep, sure do. Screw in fully, noting the amount of turns to achieve this.
Ive also been playing with an old Yamaha air cooled engine, and I reckon it was that one that was needing tweaked a bit to get it right after rebuild.
