After 10 (long!) years together, SWMBO and I have decided to get married. We are looking to do the deed next June and want to incorporate the river/boats into the day. Our house has a river frontage at Purley on Thames but the mooring is not yet developed for a reasonable sized boat. We would ideally like to hold the 'informal' reception at our home but are looking for a hotel or similar for a more formal reception for close family etc. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel or venue within boating distance of Purley (Reading) and does anyone know of places where boats may be hired to transport guests from such a venue to our home?

All ideas gratefully received!!

Thanks!

Next June? Then there's still plenty of time to get off your **** and fix it then :)

Seriously though

How about the people who operate the Caversham Princess et al (from Caversham - Fry's Island?) They have a number of boats of different sizes.

Yes! Tim Deaton is the owner. Smashing guy, nice boats of all sizes and unrivalled knowledge of these matters. I bet he could organise it all.
Unfortunately the Beetle & Wedge is too far up for you, they do a great wedding and parking could be arranged the other side of the river as I know the dude who lives there.
