hi can anyone tell me the cheapest place to get a new webasto or wallas 12v air heater from uk only please as for warranty, will fit myself

I bought my Webasto from Butler Technik last week. Cheapest I found.

But the OP wants a proper Webasto warranty so can't do that, there is a reason they are cheaper, good for genuine parts though. I'm often surprised taht people buy marine kits from BT when people like Kings Lock can do the real marine stuff at a very similar price with the full three year on board warranty provided you install to the instructions even if DIY.

He says it comes with a return to sender warranty and said he can also provide the full marine boxed set at a substantial discount too with the on board repair anywhere warranty.

I looked at the prices of Kings Lock, it's not too bad but in all fairness the prices are quite a bit higher...I got a pretty complicated system with additional ducting, 10 l fuel tank, upgraded marine exhaust, 3 vents (one demister) controlled by a switched y and still paid quite a bit less than their listed price.

Problem here is you are not comparing apples with apples, you seem to have a cheap basic truck unit with all the drawbacks that come with it i.e. higher sensitivity to low voltage, no zero revs at control idle and a unit not designed to cope with the longer ducting used in RVs and boats. If it goes wrong within only a year you have to take it out yourself, pay shipping and hope the part you took out is the faulty bit, and then wait for it to be diagnosed and returned. This is not a cheap solution in every sense of the word in my view, for instance I could source the very latest AT2000STC and even provide it with the Smart™ control system and all the parts required for a marine install, even ducting and vent for a single outlet install and sell it for £840, probably way below BT, (who by the way cannot supply a marine unit with a three year warranty, that can only come from an official dealer which they are not), but I will not, it's the wrong kit for a boat. On the other hand one can pay a couple of hundred or so more and even if self installed (correctly) gives you the right spec kit with the reassurance that if anything goes wrong in the next three years I or somebody like me will come along and sort it. If you are happy with the drawbacks and inferior heater and your sole criteria is price then fine, but don't run away with the idea that you have a bargain, what you have is the wrong heater at less money and a much lower level of warranty. Yer pays yer money, yer takes yer choice.

I am not worried about how low the volts are until the unit switches itself off (I understand that we are only talking about a 0.2v difference). As to the unit not able to cope with the longer ducting in my boat...do you have a link to some benchmark tests that support this, as that is the first time I have heard that.

My sole criteria is not price or I would have bought a used system or a knock off. I bought a branded, new warranted Webasto heater that will no doubt completely satisfy my needs. I bought it from a large Webasto UK based dealer with fast shipping it was all in stock along with all the accessories I wanted. I have no question that it's 100% fit for purpose.

What I have is a perfectly suitable heater for my boat, bought all at a great price. If the unit to cover my needs had been double the price...that's what I would have paid, but the heater I bought will more than keep my boat warm.

They were perfectly upfront from the start regarding buying an out the box marine system...which they offered me, or putting together the system I ultimately bought...which was hundreds of pounds cheaper than being sold by the company you mentioned.

I understood the warrantee might not be as good, but honestly for the savings made, it was worth it to me. Can't speak for everyone though...someone else might prefer to pay a lot more and have a bit less hassle in the unlikely event something goes wrong.

I fitted a BT ST2000 3 years ago. It was considerably cheaper than anyone else could supply at the time. They were also very helpful in finding a solution to needing a 90' bend with male fittings each end. A happy customer.
