Hi
Looking for someone who has experience with installing Thermo Tops into a boat.
I am installing a Webasto thermo top c into a 33 foot boat
Looking for advice on how to plumb the thermo top C hot water to the domestic hot water tank,
(the instructions from Webasto are almost none existent)
I have the hot water from the webasto boiler fed through the radiators then through one side of the heat exchanger which I have installed alongside the boats domestic hot water cylinder
it's how to plumb the other side of the heat exchanger into the hot water tank that's causing confusion.

There are 4connections on the domestic hot water tank,
2 plastic pipes for cold water in and hot water out (drinking, washing water)
I'm assuming it is not this drinking water that needs to feed through the heat exchanger?
& 2 rubber pipe feeds from the engine cooling water (water in the pipes is green with anti freeze)
I'm assuming its one of these rubber tubes that I need to route through the heat exchanger?
A lower one (coloured blue) that has a feed from the engine
A upper one (coloured red) that has a feed from the engine
One will be in and one will be out, but which one is which?
Which one do I need to disconnect to route through the webasto heat exchanger

Regards
Paul

I find your post surprising.

With the Webasto Thermo Top I fitted to a GibSea 96 the enclosed instructions were perfectly clear and easy to follow.

Biggest problem we had was boring through the teak stringers to get the plastic Hepo 2 pipe through. We used six 25mm bits!

One thing we did fit was an expansion tank.

Sounds like your trying to put the webasto through the same coil as the engine which I believe can cause problems . You really need a new calorifier with twin coils
These webasto units are great but if improperly installed can be a real pain . Even the webasto instructions can be flawed . My advise would be to get an EXPERIENCED installer to advise on the plumbing side it may save you money in the long run.

Must ad the experienced part of my post is not a dig a diy installation more a dig at how easy it is to claim to be a webasto expert/so called dealer
