I have a PC1000 Icom SSB receiver, connected to my computer.
I need a weatherfax program, that will interface with my computer and receiver, to receive weatherfax maps. I know there was a program which talked to the icom and tuned and downloaded the weatherfax maps, but dont know what its called or even if its still available, plus its got to be easy to understand and operate, not the smartest of bears!!
Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.

Ive been trying out HF weatherfax on my Android tablet - Using a simple receiver though so a bit tricky to get good reception (Eton G3). have got some usable fax's through and its cheap!! Also use their DroidNavtex which is works very well on 518. All done at home so far in Chichester.

Jvcomm does all you need and is free.

You can set up a schedule and it will tune the receiver and download faxes /navtex automatically. Also decodes fleet weather reports from German dwd station on 10.1Mhz.

Just had a quick Google - is it a pcr1000? If so it might be a little bit more long winded, with jvcomm talking to the software which controls the radio but should be possible.

It seems that with this all the sound is processed in the black box so only necessary to take a feed from the black box to the audio in. I also was concerned it might need two sound cards but found one recently sold on Ebay where the description covered this.

I've never played with a pcr1000 but if it's just for audio then very likely you're right, just plug a lead from the pcr output jack to computer line/mic input. The OP hinted about also being interested in something to automatically program the frequency of the radio to the Wfax frequency, JVcomm lets you do this with a schedule but you need to get the radio & computer talking to each other. I can do this on my IC7000 ham radio but not sure exactly how you would do it on a prc1000. Might be easier just to store the frequencies in the pcr software and hunt for one with a clear signal when you want to download.
Schedule here..

Looks like a nice box though

To have the fax software control the radio would require the radio software to include something like CAT control and also the ability
to connect to a Virtual serial port. The JVComm software would link through this Virtual serial port. This is done with the more recent
Flex Radio systems but I suspect this facility might not be included in the run of the mill Icom PC1000 control programs. Maybe some one will
pop in who has written software and done it!!!!!

Meanwhile the OP would just have to rely on Memories of which there do not seem to be many.

Just using memories sounds the easiest option  JVcomm can also call external programs with added parameters so it might be able to set up a frequency that way. Maybe, I've never played with that side of it, and might be a bit involved just to receive a wfax. JVcom works a treat with an IC7000 though, needs a little chip to change the voltage from the com port level to TTL level, MAX232 or something.

Fit a 30 footish random wire antenna to your G3-best I got was a recognisable fax from Boston;Navtex from Istanbul transmitter;and volmet airport reports even on internal whip from around the Atlantic basin.
Plus clear weatherfax and German Met office transmissions.
