My current observed weather still doesn't match up with the forecast weather....

I'm in the midlands looking out the window right now, and its blowing a good solid F4... not 100% sure of the direction as its swirling around the building a bit.... but there is a relatively low layer of cloud that is moving from the North West, and is absolutely scudding along.....

This doesn't tie in with the forecast as I have read it...... I know that the forecast is usually for surface layer wind, and this may be quite different, but if there is a NW wind up there, that doesn't fit with the synoptic charts I've seen....

humhhhhh

OK..... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Its just the degree of certainty and consistency that has been in the forecast for the last few days has been higher than normal.... and the difference between observed and forecast is quite substantial.......

Thanks for that Ghost....

I like the new XCweather site... its looking pretty good now isn't it....

It fits exactly with what I am seeing... in the last hour or so, the wind has swung around to a bit more westerly... and XC is showing the nearest observation site to me as being W 20mph.... which is in the F4 range I am seeing

If the high south of me establishes itself and moves a bit north, then I can see the forecast coming right..... lets hope so.... a hot weekend is much looked forward to!

Bit rough though for the RTIR crowd.....

I live 3 miles from city airport, correlating with what xc 'sez' and what is out the window is very reassuring when it's time to go out on the boat.
