There are some fairly dire weather warnings doing the rounds viz. temps as low as -17c predicted, and snow.

I did notice the wind was sort of easterly today. What the general opinion..is it really coming our way or is it the usual 'one flake wonder' that throws the UK into chaos.

From what I can glean, the slightly different mathematical models that different forecasting orgs use are offering some highly-divergent 'prognoses' regarding what January and February are likely to bring. The idea that there may be more than one possible solution to the 'reading of the weather runes' should not surprise anyone on 'ere wot goes on the oggin from time to time, and outside the Solent.

Did I read something about a butterfly flapping its wings in Honduras instead of Guatemala, and Britain getting Moscow-type Siberian winds for a couple of weeks?

Anyway, it's caused me to discover this morning that the anti-freeze in our two cars is - allegedly - well up to Eastern European freeze conditions, the windscreen cover is in place, and the polar sox, foulies jackets, gloves and hats are in place. Oh, and the umbrella, 'cos we all know that if I don't take that, we get a tropical downpour instead....

Smug git that I am.....

Maybe Simon JK will give us an insider's outlook.
