It is a handy site and adds to the worry when you sit watching the wind where your boat is in the depths of Winter.

I also used it to calibrate my barometer by choosing the closest airport during a prolonged high (quite a while ago!). It's drawback is it is always a view to the past and more often than that the data links seem to be down so you can't monitor a trend.

On the subject for amateur forecasters (me included) On passage 5 day charts has the largest charts I have found so far on the web, big enough that you can actually measure the wind bars. Many make the charts far to small.

Using these charts, along with reading the forecasts available I have found my prediction skills are improving dramatically.

Just thought I would add this.....

Your last thread dis-appeared (I think) because there was a a lot of trench warfare going on around, but nothing to do with your thread. Your innocent foray onto the forum was hi-jacked.
Now.....this weather link....how accurate do you guys find it? as down here round the extremities of Cornwall, Falmouth, Lizard etc, haven't found a forecast that ahs got it right on a regular basis yet. Inshore forecast seems to be nearest, BBC the crappest.
