Hi,
If you think that you’re under pressure sometimes, spare a thought for the people of Mongolia.
High pressure is currently over the country with a central pressure of 1067mb! High pressure in the British Isles does well to get above 1040mb, so although not a record, this is an extreme figure.
It is happening because the air is so cold and dense in this region at this time of year. The first chart below shows the central pressure, the second highlights how cold it is, -37C by day!
The good news for those of you planning to head out to Mongolia over the next few days is that is will warm up, probably to -30C by Saturday
