Good morning,

What a wonderful satellite picture this morning. I have drawn on the fronts to highlight how they are associated with the cloud (the picture is courtesy of www.sat24,com). See it at http://www.weatherweb.net/frontclears.gif

The storm system to the northwest of Scotland has pushed fronts eastwards overnight. Notice the change over from the flat, dynamic cloud associated with the warm front, to the lumpy convective cloud behind the cold front.

Some huge showers moving across Scotland, Ireland northern England and Wales.

As the low pressure west of Scotland moves east tonight, the strongest of the winds will be crossing Ireland, Wales, northern England and southern Scotland. Watch them develop at http://www.sailingweather.co.uk

Best batten down the hatches!

Hope that is of interest,
Simon

Yes fantastic sat pictures this morning. I've been watching the met office ones which are good:

It's great to watch a classic depression move through and see the cold front pass. It's a beautiful (windy) day in Devon now!

Thanks Simon for post ; most interesting and informative; I'm on north coast of the Clyde; its breezing up a bit now (1.30pm) the morning has been showery, brighter intervals and about 15-20 kts S to SW.
Regards, Malcolm
