Hi,
Hope the chiefs don't think this is too much of a plug. Yachting World are coming on a course in November so you'll be able to read about the Schools soo I hope.
I'm pleased to announce I'll be running a Weather School, Sailing Weather (Part 1) on Saturday 13th January 2007.
The previous course booked up so quickly, many of you asking when the next one would be held, that I thought I would announce this early. If you do want to come along, I'd recommend you book quickly.
If you are a sailor, regardless of how much experience you have, and the weather is of interest to you, then this course is for you. See what past delegates thought here,
( http://www.weatherweb.net/weatherschool/index_files/wxschoolfeedback.htm )
I present the course in a light hearted way, and we go through concepts such as
- formation of pressure systems (why, where and when they form),
- warm, cold and occluded front, formation and forecasting,
- reading the charts (trying to help you see what I see when forecasting and bettering your interpretation of the charts),
- making your own forecasts using the wind and clouds,
- weather hazards such as fog and thunderstorms, how and why they form, plus much much more.
The course is always well attended and has received very positive comments from previous delegates (see http://www.weatherweb.net/wxschoolfeedback.htm) If you would like to come, please do book as soon as possible as I restrict places so that the course retains the "one-to-one" feel, while benefiting from the input given by the group.
I know weather can be a very dry (excuse the pun!) subject, but my aim is to make it as accessible as possible, and to help you see the miracles in the way the atmosphere works, and to turn this to your advantage.
Sailing Weather (Part 1) is to be held in Wombourne (easily accessible from the M6, M40 and M5). Parking is ample and the cost for the full day is £117.50 (including VAT). Lunch and refreshments (great choccie biscuits /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) as well as all course materials are included.
So, if you haven't already attended, do come along, it is well worth it (that's what other delegates said anyway).
To book, or if you have any questions, just send an email to simon@weatherweb.net or call me on 01902 895252.
Hope to see you soon,
Simon
