Weather report recall

When taking down the weather report from the coastguard, I'm always slow at writing. Even when doing thing notation style I am always half thinking what the weather report means to my day and end up missing bits.

Now in the car my radio records traffic reports so I can replay them later, it even does it without me having to be listening to the radio.

Does anyone know if there is a VHF DSC set out there that does anything like this? Anything with a record function, automated or otherwise. Or does anyone have any solution that they use to record and play back at their leisure that they use?

cheers for any suggestions...

I used to use one of those little hand held solid state dictating machines.

+1

I velcroed it in the middle between the vhf speaker and the SSB radio, it can be voice activated so it starts recording by itself the VHF bulletin

as my daughter usually begin making noise and fighting together just seconds before the proper area is forecast, it is a bit embarassing to replay the bulletin and end-up listening to my own self shouting to them to be silent

Most phones can record sound, so why now use your mobile to record and then play back at your liesure

I thought about the dictating machine, a mobile or even just an old tape recorder . I thought by now with all the technology that goes on in boats that there would have been a built in solution somewhere along the line. Sounds like navtext is about the closest thing.

Yep - several of Cobra's VHFs have this feature built in. Press a button and get a replay of what was just said. Not sure how long it records for.
