A quick trip to Burnham on Crouch marina planned mid week.
Not been there since before Covid.
Any thing exciting to know about, anything changed ?
All comments welcome including where to eat and/or avoid.

Two of the Swallowtail buoys might have not been put back yet after maintenance but you would probably use the Whitaker. The Ray Sand has been moved, but again that is probably irrelevant.

Dont take me wrong but compared to the other rivers on the east coast, view wise, the Crouch is the most boring river I have ever been in. dead flat fields, for miles, with few if any trees. Burnham though is an attractive little town but always seems deserted whenever I visit. Have a gooden. If you are able to, visit the Roach, which gets very close to Southend airport where you can see the planes come and go.

Thanks for any replies.
This is purely an excuse to actually get the boat underway before the temperatures drop .
The Medway to Burnham is a well trodden path with few "interesting challenges " navigation wise and a decent selection of eateries not that far away on arrival.
Also not that far away from home
if we need to make a run for it weatherwise....again.

Brightlingsea or Bradwell would get my vote

The buxey sands have shifted a bit, just check that you have up to date charts and keep an eye on the depth as you enter the river (ditch)

Which makes for a superb racing area.

Have known Burnham from the 1960's and it has lost some of it's charm since then. But could be said of many areas.

I still like the Roach and from Creeksea to Battlesbridge . Find it very relaxing.
