Weather Musing...Sunday\'s Wind in the Channel

Hi All,

Sorry if I am teaching granny to suck eggs here, but just wanted to point out a risk on Sunday for those of you planning anything in the Channel.

As the cold front goes through ( see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack1a.gif ) there could be some very strong gusts on that, perhaps to F9 (or more!). The gusts may be picked up on the Shipping Forecast but probably won't be in GRIB data or automated forecasts on the web as these tend to smooth out the wind field.

I've had a couple of calls from people usure to cross the Channel this weekend.

Elsewhere it's just realy windy with gales or severe gales for many.

You are a rubbish forecaster, I predicted this weather pattern three weeks ago....... doing my Yachtmaster practical from Sunday.

In between bouts of floor-laying on Sunday, I shall be replenishing the by-the-fire wood store, and anticipating a evening inventory of the single malt store.....

The meaning is: 3 weeks ago Doug could've told you the weather would turn and be less than nice on Sunday - cos he's on a sailing course and we all know: Sailing Course = crap weather...
