Hi all,

Time for another of my ramblings I'm afraid!

An interesting situation forming through the southern Pennines, north Shropshire and into the Welsh mountains this afternoon. Take a look at the satellite picture at
http://meteosat.e-technik.uni-ulm.de/cgi...x=73&C.y=13

Also view the plotted charts at http://www.weatherweb.net/aviations/3huka3.gif

You can see clouds bubling up in these areas. These are areas where winds is flowing from the land, meeting sea breezes with the result that air is being forced to rise. There's enough moisture available for the it to condense into cloud, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear of reports of isolated thunderstorms or heavy showers in these areas this evening.

Hope that's of interest,
Simon

Interesting. There was a lesser formation on the S coast last night I was watching. Not enough moisture to cause precipitation, but you could see the fluffy clouds forming and rising as the land started to cool.

Latest forecast for SW (1330 on BBC1) is for similar happenings likely over Bodmin Moor and the southern part of Dartmoor with heavy showers quite likely this afternoon although the sky is ten tenths blue over the Tamar Valley at the moment and it's darned hot.
