Weather: Monday's Look Ahead video - Cold, cold, cold

so, does this negate what you posted yesterday ("drier" and wetter email)? .... the predictions look like continuing in a "rut": cold easterlies up to and including the Easter weekend

This could make for a good Firth of Clyde Easter sail. With easterlies many anchorages that are not normally used for overnighters become tenable and we get those log reaches up or down the FOC. The best bit is blue sky, sunny days, although cold. Unfortunately it makes getting out my berth more awkward than normal.

Easter-ly wind.

It's a royal pain in the wetsuit. I suppose the consolation is that when the wind reverts to the typical south-westerlies, the temperature will jump fourteen or fifteen degrees centigrade, overnight...and we'll have a month or three of heavy rain...

Hi,

Today's Look Ahead video is online to watch now at http://www.weatherweb.net/wxwebtv2.php

Models are having difficulty with dealing with conditions as we head into Easter, but the cold weather looks set to dominate.

Full details in the video.

As well as keeping warm, try to keep the sun shining!

Simon

Its just NOT good enough Simon we want nice weather

I agree, though it will be Baltic!
You could do a monster beam reach down towards Sranraer, safe in the knowledge it will hold to come back! No need to think of big stuff from the Atlantic at Ballacntrae. Arran's more or less out of bounds mind you, even Lamlash is not much fun in an easterly, and who wants to do a mile in an inflatable at 1deg C from Holy Isle? Lochranza can be grim in East winds, since they funnel down the glens.

I reckon ... Beam reach blast down to Girvan.. Monster broad reach on Stbd over to Campebtown. Thaw out in the sauna at sports centre... Tack out past Davaar , then a beam reach up the Sound to Portavadie / Tarbert. (Portavadie has better hot showers!). Then tack your way home - via Kyles. that would fill Easter sailing nicely! Optional stop to thaw out at Port Bannayne.:D
