I would like to learn a little more about weather forcasting. Are there any suggestions of what books I should read? I don't want to be a TV weather man. I would just like a little more of an insight.

Reading thje books is very dry!!

Simons weather course is excellent and his enthusiam for his subject infectious.

Normal disclaimers etc just been on the course

Hey Up!
Just noticed Your boat Location---- Cardiff Bay.

No Problems there then with the Weather.

Forecast for the next half hour in Cardiff bay "Changeable"
Next quarter of an Hour "Different"
Becoming--- Variable.
Then Windy, then Calm, then Raining Then Sunny.
Then it might Snow.
Then again!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you want the "Bible" on this subject and be especially relevant to our "love" of water etc. :

It takes you from A to Z ... and is THE book that taught near all Ships Officers for years and years ... My copy is 1967 ! which is 6 yrs before I went to sea ! But still going strong. Probably had a few revisions since then ... (wish I had !)

Today's Guardian has a supplement (intro by Sir R K-J) with a superb centre page illustration of fronts, lows, clouds, etc. More than you would get on the average Yachtmaster shorebased course.
