Weather in Balearics

Hi,
I'd like to know if anyone has experience of sailing in the Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca etc). I am keen to know of the weather patterns through the year, and how the risk of gales varies from month to month for example.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I spent 4 months April-August 99 and it can get very windy we were held up in Menorca for 4 weeks waiting for weather to cross to Corsica. But the sailing is fantastic clear water good anchoring and lots of interesting people.

You will need a large anchor, we had a Fortress 23 on are Contessa 32 much better than are 35lb CQR out there and were often the only boat holding in 45knts+

The worst times here in Mallorca for summer storms is the last August week and first September week you could set your clock by it. November is also quite wild at times. End of April / beginning of May it can be windy but no real storms.

Re: no real storms?

Absolutely horrendous end of the year. One forecast heard was for a reduction to F11. My son's drive W of Palma was blocked by 22 large fallen trees, took all day to chain-saw himself out. Several marinas were completely demolished. Severe damage all over the island. Rainfall was unprecedented.
