Can anyone tell us what the current weather is like around Caversham? Would like to check our boat on the T & K Marina but it is a long way from the West Country only to find the roads are impossible - thanks

Its cold ! currently about -3 but not snowing. Only issue I had was the amount of snow on the canvas was weighing it down.

Sorry I missed your post on Friday. I hope you made it up there ok and that your boat is undamaged.

I made it in to T&K on Saturday to shift the snow from my canopy and check the heaters are working. I live locally and it was the first day since Tuesday that I was able to get my car out (it is rear wheel drive and hopeless in the snow, front wheel drive cars did ok and the 4x4 owners are looking very smug). The access road was passable, just. The marina is quite a sight with thick ice around the boats.

Does anyone have any views on whether this is likely to cause any damage to the boat?

The roads in the area are improving gradually if you need to make another visit, but if there is any more snow then things could deteriorate rapidly. It would be worth calling the marina office to check, but I noticed that it was closed on Saturday due to staff illness. I hope you had enough leccy cards.

Did make it up there and cleared what had to be cleared - much as did you. Put new, fancy, thermostat on this year and it is working just fine without pumping heat around the engine bay and underfloor tanks just for the sake of it. Roads were super until I entered Berks then terrible.

I'll be trying to get my car out tomorrow as I had a message that my canopy has collapsed under the weight of snow.

Hope it doesn't snow overnight otherwise I will have no chance.
(Rear wheel drive automatic, not designed for slippery roads I'm afraid!)

" my canopy has collapsed under the weight of snow."

Did you get your car out and is the boat ok. If you had said we would have gone to look (sort out) for you. Can't do anything after Friday as we are away for a couple of weeks. Ring if you are desparate and I can sort on Friday.

Hey, thanks Emma/Phil. No I haven't managed to get the car out of the village yet, but Mick and Tony have had a look, nothing much we can do without a task force by the sounds of it.
I'll get down there as soon as I can, hopefully no snow tonight. Problems of living on the top of the Chilterns and not having 4 wheel drive I suppose.
Hope you have a good holiday, get in touch when you get back.
