I have received a few requests from forum members asking what the outlook is for next weekends crossing trip to Cherbourg.
The models have been fairly consitent for the last few days, so here are my tentatiove EARLY thoughts:
FRIDAY 3RD OCOTBER:
Shallow area of low pressure in the Bay of Biscay through Friday, moving southwards. Trough then moves eastwards to the north of the Channel in the afternoon.
Winds VRB F2 becoming SW F3-F4 in the afternoon, then W-WNW F4 perhaps low end F5 overnight.
SATURDAY 4TH OCTOBER:
A more unstable WNW airflow through Saturday. This bringing sunshine and showers, but showery troughs could allow the showers to merge to more persistent bursts of rain at times.
Winds W F5 becoming WNW F4-F5.
SUNDAY 5TH OCTOBER:
Could be some heavier bursts of rain going through overnight as a more organised troughs moves east. Brighter for Sunday daylight, with only a few showers.
Winds becoming mainly N F5.
Hope that's a useful early heads up. Remember it could all change! I am around 60-70% confident at this time.
Cheers,
Simon
