Exceptionally severe low pressure area has caused severe damage in N Sardinia last night (Monday), expected to create storm surge in N Adriatic.

Hi. We have had messages from 2 friends in Sardinia. The yachts in Olbia marina have survived ok and another friend on her yacht in Cagliari is ok, the worst of it down there was yesterday afternoon wiht exceptionally heavy rains and wind but she is well tucked in in the marina. Apparently inland is a different story with landslides washing a lot of roads etc away. We stayed there a winter around 8 years ago and a landslide then had taken the entire new (then) carriageway down along with villages, people etc with it. We ended up driving miles over the mountains on dirt track roads to get across to Arbatax.
